Koda

Meet Koda, a brave and resilient boy who is ready for a fresh start with someone who understands his big heart and protective nature. Rescued from a high-kill shelter, Koda's early life was difficult, but despite everything he's been through, he remains deeply loving, loyal, and incredibly devoted to his people.

Around 6 years old, Koda is happiest when he's outdoors exploring, running, playing, or simply soaking up sunshine. He loves adventure just as much as he loves quiet time curled up beside you getting belly rubs and affection. At the end of the day, all Koda really wants is to feel safe, loved, and close to humans.

Koda absolutely adores people and is wonderful with children. He's affectionate, gentle with his family, and forms very strong bonds. He also surprisingly loves cats and will often cuddle up with them for naps and companionship.

Koda does have some behavioral challenges that stem from stress and protective instincts around barriers and territory. He is currently on Prozac to help manage anxiety and over-stimulation, and he has made progress with structure and management.

He can be selective with other dogs and does best with calm, respectful companions who give him space rather than overly energetic dogs that get in his face. Because of this, Koda would thrive either as an only dog or with a very calm canine friend in an experienced home that understands management and boundaries.

He is not aggressive toward humans, but he does need a secure environment and an adopter committed to continuing the structure and support that help him feel safe and successful.

For the right person, Koda will be an incredibly loyal protector, adventure buddy, cuddle companion, and best friend.
